Operational ModesDSP Configurator has two operational modes: Live and Emulate. The application opens in Emulate mode with a blank configuration. You can build a configuration and a set of presets from the blank screen or you can open an existing file that contains the last configuration displayed plus any saved presets. The normal workflow is to:
In Live mode, DSP Configurator has established a connection and is synced to the device. You can enter Live mode at any time after launching the application by using either a "push" or "pull" synchronization. In Live mode, changes made within DSP Configurator affect the device and changes to the current state of the device (from another control source) are reflected in DSP Configurator. Presets can be built and saved from the current state and stored to the device. Emulate mode allows you to work within the program offline, creating or editing configurations. In Emulate mode, the current configuration is titled Current Emulation, while in Live mode, the current configuration is titled Current State. See the Emulate Mode Versus Live Mode Operation section for information on using DSP Configurator in Emulate and Live modes. |
DSP Usage (MPX Plus 866 A only)DSP Configurator prevents you from creating a configuration that will overload the DSP (put the DSP Usage meter above 100 percent) by disallowing certain operations. Each configuration can then be saved as a preset or a partial preset. While the application prevents you from creating a single preset that will overload the DSP, it is possible that a combination of presets, when recalled, will cause an overload. DSP Configurator provides a Design Rule Verification tool that compares all presets currently saved and reports if any combination of presets will put DSP usage above 100 percent. Use this tool while working in Emulate mode when you complete a configuration file with a set of presets and before you push that file to the device. If you started creating presets in Emulate mode and continued in Live mode (not recommended), revert to Emulate mode to run the Design Rule Verification tool. See the DSP Usage section in the MPX Plus 866 A book for more information. |
