Overview

The Extron USBA-C ProMax Plenum Series of active, hybrid optical-copper cables transmit USB 10Gbps of data and power over distances up to 100 feet (30.4 meters). The cable exclusively supports USB 10Gbps and USB 5Gbps data rates while providing power to the peripheral device. Power up to 4.5 watts for cable lengths up to 65 feet (19.8 meters), and 3 watts for the 100 foot (30.4 meter) cable are supported. These unidirectional USB-A to USB-C active cables draw power from either connected USB device. The thin 0.24” (6.0 mm) diameter and narrow bend radius allow for installation in tight spaces, including plenum air spaces.

Provide interconnection for the transmission of USB data and power signals over a USB-C hybrid optical- copper cable assembly
1. Transmission requirements
  1. Shall comply with the USB standard established by the USB Implementers Forum, Inc.
  2. Shall support USB data rates of 10 Gbps and 5 Gbps
  3. Shall deliver up to 3 watts of power
2. Construction requirements:
  1. Active cable circuitry shall derive power from either the connected host or the peripheral device
  2. Shall be 100 feet (30.4 meters) in length
  3. Shall include multimode fibers
  4. Shall include 24 AWG tinned copper wires
  5. Shall provide USB-A and USB-C male connectors with gold-plated contacts
  6. Shall provide a Plenum rated cable jacket
  7. Shall allow a bend radius of 1.92" (49 mm)
  8. Shall have a cable outer diameter of 0.24” (6.0 mm)
  9. Shall support a tensile strength of 100 N (10.2 kg, 22.5 lbs)
  10. Shall provide a compression load resistance of 200 N (20.4 kg, 45 lbs)
  11. Shall support a pull strength of 111 N (11.3 kg, 25 lbs)
  12. Shall provide protection from outside electrical interference
3. General requirements
  1. Shall comply with industry standards
    1. RoHS
    2. WEEE
    3. CE
    4. UL-CMP
Approved cable shall be Extron USBA-C ProMax P/100, part number 26-758-100; no alternates or equals
