Switcher Matrix Operation

There are three workspaces, each of which may be used to create a specific type of tie configuration. These workspaces are accessed from the View menu, via functions keys F2, F3, and F4, or via hyperlinks in the Legend section. Each workspace provides the facility to make ties in the  following modes:

Audio & Video I/O - Switcher matrix ties are made in "follow" mode. All audio gain, trim, and volume settings may be made here, as well as all audio DSP processor settings. The DSP Configurator defaults to the Audio & Video I/O workspace when launched.

Audio I/O - Switcher matrix audio ties are made in "breakaway" mode. All audio gain, trim, and volume settings may be made here, as well as all audio DSP processor settings.

Video I/O - Switcher matrix video ties are made in "breakaway" mode. Low-resolution Video Input, RGB delay, and video mute settings are made in this workspace.

Use one of the following methods to make a tie in the switcher matrix:

• Click + hold a matrix input node and drag to the desired output.

• Click + hold a matrix output node and drag to the desired input.

• Right click a matrix input node and select Connect To All Outputs from the context menu.

• From an input or output node, press and hold the Shift key, arrow to the desired output or input node, then press Enter. For additional information, see Keyboard Navigation.

Use one of the following methods to delete a tie in the switcher matrix:

• Click or arrow to a matrix input node to bring focus, then press the Delete key.

• Click or arrow to a matrix output node to bring focus, then press the Delete key.

• Right click a matrix input node and select Delete All Connections from the context menu.

• Right click a matrix output node and select Delete Connection from the context menu.

Audio & Video I/O Workspace (Making Ties in Follow Mode)

The DSP Configurator defaults to the Audio & Video I/O workspace when launched. Click the View menu and select Audio & Video I/O to open the Audio I/O workspace. Alternately, press F2, or click the hyperlink in the Legend section. The audio/video switching matrix, all audio Gain, Trim, and Volume controls, plus all audio DSP signal processors are accessible from this view. For more information on audio controls and processor, click the ? icon or press F1 from any audio dialog box for context sensitive help.

Audio and video ties are made in "follow mode" when using the Audio & Video I/O workspace. In follow mode, when a video input is tied to a video output, audio ties are also made at the corresponding audio input and output.

In the case of computer video ties (VGA inputs), when a computer video input is tied to a computer video output, the corresponding audio tie will simultaneously be connected. For example, if Computer Input 1 is tied to Computer Output 1, then Audio Input 1 will also be tied to Audio Output 1. If Computer Input 1 is tied to Computer Output 2, then Audio Input 1 will also be tied to Audio Output 2, and so on.

In the case of low resolution video ties (composite and s-video inputs), when Video Input 9 is tied to Video Output 7 (i.e., the first video input is tied to the first video output), then Audio Input 9 will be tied to Audio Output 1. The table below shows the relationship of low resolution video outputs to audio outputs when a tie is made to that video output in follow mode.

Audio I/O Workspace (Audio Breakaway Mode)

Click the View menu and select Audio I/O to open the Audio I/O workspace. Alternately, press F3, or click the hyperlink in the Legend section. The audio switching matrix, all audio Gain, Trim, and Volume controls, plus all audio DSP signal processors are accessible from this view. For more information on audio controls and processor, click the ? icon or press F1 from any audio dialog box for context sensitive help.

Audio ties are made in "breakaway mode" when using the Audio I/O workspace. In breakaway mode, audio ties are made independently from video ties.

Video I/O Workspace (Video Breakaway Mode)

Click the View menu and select Video I/O to open the Video I/O workspace. Alternately, press F4, or click the hyperlink in the Legend section. The video switching matrix, plus low resolution video format selection, RGB delay, and video mutes are accessible from this view. For more information on video controls and functions, see topic, Video Settings.
