The Extron VLH 102 Handheld Microphone is an infrared wireless microphone with a durable polycarbonate enclosure for use with Extron VoiceLift® classroom sound field systems. The easy-to-hold lightweight microphone features an anti-roll collar to keep it from rolling off flat surfaces and helps prevent the IR emitters from being blocked during use. The VLH 102 is ideal for use as a pass around microphone for student presentations or a secondary microphone for team teaching and guest speakers.
Additional features include an On/Off/Mute switch to silence the microphone for private conversations or when not in use and an auxiliary input jack to allow playback from audio devices like MP3 players through the system. The microphone includes a single, AA-sized, long life rechargeable battery that provides 8 hours of talk time. The battery can be conveniently recharged in the microphone using an external charger or the VLC 202 Desktop Charging Station.
The presenter's voice is picked up by the microphone and transmitted wirelessly to an IR receiver mounted on the ceiling or wall. The signal is then passed to an Extron PoleVault Switcher where it is amplified and distributed to speakers placed throughout the classroom. This creates what is called a sound field that enables the user’s voice to be heard clearly throughout the room. Infrared signals do not pass through walls and are not subject to interference, offering clear advantages over systems that use radio frequency technology. Up to two microphones can be supported per classroom, promoting student participation and team teaching.
