The Extron RG6 is a plenum-rated, single 18 AWG conductor coaxial cable designed to handle the highest-resolution signals for the most critical applications and longest cable runs, including high scan rate analog and demanding digital SDI/HD‑SDI applications. Signal loss, seen as an image's loss of brightness and sharpness or data errors in digital systems, can be experienced when cable runs extend over long distances. Signals that run at higher frequencies are especially vulnerable to signal loss over long distance cable runs. The RG6 cable carries ultra high resolution workstation graphics as well as low resolution video with minimal signal loss, ensuring the best transmission of video signals.

The RG6 cable comprises a single, solid, bare copper 18 AWG, 75 ohm, coax conductor in a foamed PE dielectric wrapped in a foil shield with 100% shield coverage plus a tinned copper braid shield with 95% shield coverage. It is ideal for signal distribution of composite video up to RGBHV.
