Streaming Content Manager - SCM is a software management tool for processing, packaging, and delivering MP4 files produced by the SMP 351 Streaming Media Processor during impromptu and scheduled recording sessions. SCM prepares SMP 351 recordings with metadata into file packages for playback by the Extron Media Player – EMP. SCM also defines the storage directory, users, groups, and access rights for AV recordings using data obtained from standard network directory services. SCM uses a unique user identifier such as an email address obtained from the AV control system to authenticate users and notify them when recording packages are available for retrieval.

Manage Users and AV Recordings

SCM processes and transfers EMP recording packages to a managed network storage directory. With data from standard LDAP/AD network services, it identifies, authenticates, and manages user access to recording packages. SCM can also define custom local user identities and passwords to manage groups that must operate independently from standard network directory services. Personal identifiers such as email addresses obtained from AV control systems are used to authenticate users, establish rights, and notify users when recording packages are available for retrieval. Recordings that cannot be authenticated by SCM are saved in a guest directory that is controlled by the SCM administrator. With access to standard IT services, SCM simplifies the management of SMP 351 recording assets.

Prepare Recordings for an Enhanced Playback Experience

SCM prepares recorded assets produced by the SMP 351 into file packages that provide an enhanced playback experience.  Both video on demand (VOD) and downloaded assets can be viewed from the embedded Extron Media Player – EMP. SCM integrates the metadata and time-synchronized thumbnails with an advanced set of playback controls including chapters, and variable speed playback, into the EMP user interface. EMP operates from virtually any PC or personal device using a variety of browser applications.

Administrator, User, and Public Portals

The SCM web portal provides both public and private users with access to the managed AV recordings. Content can be marked as public or private, and identified for downloading, video on demand (VOD) or both. Private users can view the total number of recordings, and recent activity. Users can sort and filter recordings based on filename, date and time, recording device status, and destination folder.

Administrators have the ability to define, manage, and update user profiles, user groups, and storage directories. Administrators can access summary data for users, login, and processing activity. They can sort and search user profiles based on recent activity or frequency of use, and make bulk edits to user profiles. Summary recording data includes quantity, date and time, filename, device name, and destination folder. Administrators can sort and filter recording data using various fields to make file management more efficient.
