The Extron Media Player – EMP, is a browser-based media player for MP4 (M4V) files produced by the SMP 351 Streaming Media Processor. EMP provides an enhanced playback experience, incorporating metadata, time-synchronized thumbnail images, and advanced playback controls into the user interface. This data and controls provide the user with greater insight into the event and the ability to efficiently navigate and playback the recorded material. EMP requires no software installation and can be operated from virtually any PC or personal device using a variety of browser applications.

Highly Effective Media Presentation

The EMP operates within a browser application that uses the HTML5 Internet markup language to structure and present AV elements. This makes it highly compatible with a variety of PCs and personal devices. The EMP enhances a users’ playback experience by incorporating transport controls, a playback bar, chapter and event marks, audio controls, variable speed controls, and time-synchronized thumbnail images into the user interface. It also integrates metadata, presenting information such as the organization, event, location and capture date into the EMP title and banner area. The comprehensive controls and metadata provides the user with an increased overview and context of the presentation experience as well as comprehensive controls that support efficient search, navigation and playback of the recorded media.

Enhanced Accessibility and Control

The EMP offers assistive technology that fulfills Section 508 accessibility standards for individuals with physical impairments or disabilities. With alternate color palettes and zoom capabilities, users can increase the legibility and the visibility of recorded content.
