Video Teleconference with Touchpanel Control
Configure a system that incorporates keyboard and phonebook functionality
Video teleconferencing allows you to communicate with several global locations concurrently, without leaving your office. The system shown here features a TLP Pro 720C touchpanel, providing easy control of the conferencing hardware using the control processor within the DTP Crosspoint 84 IPCP SA. The graphical user interface on the TLP Pro 720C is created using GUI Designer software and the control configuration is created using Global Configurator Plus.
System Design Solution
After reviewing the customer’s requirements, determine what devices they wish to control and what controls they wish to provide on the touchpanel. Do they want the ability to access an address book on the touchpanel? How many address book entries would they like to see on each page? What type of user experience and visual confirmation do they wish to offer on the touchpanel when interacting with the codec? Will it be a “heads-up” or “heads-down,” meaning data is received either via the on screen navigation menus - heads-up, or directly from a data field within the touchpanel - heads-down.
- Design User Interface for Touchpanel using GUI Designer.
- Configure the system using Global Configurator.
Key Configuration Concepts
- Keyboard configuration - building and displaying a string.
When a key on the keyboard is pressed, the control processor uses a memory buffer to create a string with the entered letters. This string is required to be shown on the page. Also, the user needs the ability to delete one or more characters or completely clear this string.
The screen shots on this page show the configuration for the letter ‘A’ and the configuration for the clear button.
- Address book search – sending the string and collecting the entries.
- Phone book entry table – displaying the entries. When the search of a name is completed and the entries are returned, the touchpanel is required to show the entries.
Software Tip: If only one room needs controlling, either GC Pro or GC Plus can be used. If you plan to scale this application above one primary control interface, then GC Pro would be required.
