SMX USB Series
High Performance Modular KVM Matrix Switching for Pro AV Applications
KVM – Keyboard, Mouse, Video matrix switchers are very common in IT applications. Most KVMs are designed to support one or two users and multiple CPUs, with signal distribution over an IP network or Category-type cable to remote locations. Video support is typically limited to VGA or DVI, and peripheral support is primarily provided for PS/2 or USB 1.0/1.1 compatible input devices. These IT market-specific design criteria often conflict with the needs of KVM in professional AV applications.
SMX USB matrix switcher boards for the SMX System MultiMatrix modular, field-upgradeable matrix switcher are designed to route up to eight Host CPUs to one or more USB peripheral devices, such as keyboards and mice, Web cams, and portable hard drives. The matrix boards support data transfer rates up to 480 Mbps and are compatible with USB 2.0/1.1/1.0 specifications. Four integrated, two-port USB hubs simplify integration in common keyboard/mouse applications. Host and Peripheral Emulation is provided on all ports for reliable, problem-free boot up, even without a tie being made to a connected device. SMX USB matrix switcher boards are ideal for use in the creation of KVM - keyboard, video, mouse matrix applications when combined with available SMX DVI, HDMI, or VGA matrix switching boards. SMX USB matrix boards are available in two I/O sizes: 4x4 and 8x4.
