IR Learner™

IR Learner is a free software utility for capturing infrared codes from a handheld IR remote to create custom drivers for operating IR-controlled devices using IP Link® and GlobalViewer®.  IR Learner is a Windows®-based application designed for use with Extron products that feature a built-in IR capture port, such as the System 5 IP System Switcher, the IPL T SFI244 Ethernet Control Interface, and the MLC 226 IP MediaLink® Controller.

IR Learner software makes it easy to establish communication with Extron IR learning hardware devices using either a TCP/IP or RS-232 connection.  The graphical user interface allows you to define a new device driver by specifying device type, manufacturer, model, and version as  appropriate in a driver document.

In addition to creating new drivers, IR Learner can be used to modify an existing driver.  IR Learner makes it easy to add to the function list for a particular device type and to remove functions previously assigned to a device driver. Once a driver has been created or modified, it can be saved to the PC and uploaded to any
IP Link-enabled device on the network. IR Learner is offered to dealers at no cost and can be downloaded from the Extron web site.

To download IR Learner:

  1. Open a browser and advance to www.extron.com.

  1. Click the Download tab.

  1. Click the IP Link® icon.

  1. Click the IR Learner™ icon.

  1. Click the Download Now button.

  1. Complete the personal information form.

  2. Click the Download IR LearnerSW1x9.exe button.

  3. Follow the remaining system prompts.
