Selecting the Right Mounting Hardware
What is Mounting Hardware?
Extron offers a wide selection of mounting hardware designed and engineered to integrate sophisticated AV equipment into today's business and professional environments. Products in this category provide versatile options for mounting devices discreetly into or under furniture, onto projector mounting brackets, and into racks. Mounting hardware categories include Through-Desk, Back of Rack, and Shelf Mounting Kits, Under-Desk Mounting Kits, Projector Mounting Kits, Rack Shelves, Half Rack Mounts, and Mounting Plates and Boxes. These hardware-mounting solutions provide additional flexibility for permanent installation environments such as boardrooms, classrooms and universities, training facilities, and command and control centers.
How is Mounting Hardware used?
Extron Mounting Hardware securely attaches to an AV device for permanent integration of the device into an equipment rack or wall, inside a lectern, suspended from a ceiling, or mounted under a desk.
Below is an example of an application using several Extron projector mounting products. The PMK 350 Low Profile Pole Mount is installed in a suspended T-grid incorporating 2’ x 2’ (60 cm x 60 cm) or 2’ x 4’ (60 cm x 120 cm) ceiling tiles. The appropriate PMP Series Projector Mount Pole, available in lengths from 2" to 24", is secured to the PCM 240 and provides convenient cable access. The PMK 350 Low Profile Mount Kit securely mounts multiple quarter-rack width products such as MPA 152, 30 Watt Per Channel integrated MPA - Mini Power Amplifier and an Extron Power Supply. Completing the application is the Extron UPB 25 Universal Projector Mounting Bracket, an easy to use, universal projector mount compatible with nearly every projector up to 25 pounds (11 kg).
Once you determine the AV products for your specific application and environment begin selecting the mounting hardware by choosing the appropriate mounting category. When selecting mounting hardware keep in mind the size and number of products to be mounted as well as possible future equipment needs.
Projector Mounts include versatile products used to integrate projectors and AV support devices such as amplifiers into today's classroom and meeting room environments. They include ceiling mounting plates, various projector mounting kits, projector mount poles in assorted lengths, and the UPB 25 Universal Projector Mounting Bracket.
Pole Mount kits are used in conjunction with projector mount poles to integrate one or more AV devices above the projector into classroom and meeting room environments.
Under-Desk Mounts include products designed to integrate 1U high, quarter-rack, half-rack, or full-rack width two- or four-piece enclosure products such as universal interfaces, switchers, distribution amplifiers, and twisted pair products under a table, desk, or other flat surfaces.
Through-Desk, Back of Rack, and Shelf Mounts include products designed to integrate 1U high, quarter-rack, half-rack, or full-rack width two- or four-piece enclosure products such as universal interfaces, switchers, distribution amplifiers, and twisted pair products through a table, desk, or other flat surface, or into equipment racks.
Rack Shelf Mounts include products designed to integrate 1U or 2U high, quarter-rack, half-rack, or full-rack width 3.5", 6", or 9.5" deep products such as universal interfaces, switchers, distribution amplifiers, and twisted pair products through a table, desk, or other flat surface, or into equipment racks. Also included in this category are Blank Rack Panels and Rack False Faceplate Kits that provide rack color uniformity by filling gaps between Extron rack-mountable products with matching Extron gray rack panels.
The Extron Half Rack Shelf System of rack shelves and related accessories is designed for applications utilizing one-half rack width and smaller products. The compact, 1U half-rack width size allows the mounting of half-, quarter-, and eighth-rack products in space-constrained furniture such as lecterns and cabinets that are not wide enough to support the mounting of full width, 19” rack shelves or electronics.
Mud Rings, Mounting Plates and Boxes include external wall boxes, surface mount boxes, in-wall junction boxes, mounting brackets, and mud rings designed to integrate new and existing products into walls or onto flat surfaces.
The Extron ZipClip Series of mounting kits provide quick and flexible installation options for the Extron PS Series of External Power Supplies and other eighth-rack and quarter-rack width Extron products.
