The Extron Digital Video Scaler DVS 204 incorporates proprietary scaling technology with input flexibility that's essential for today's top-notch audio/visual applications. With 33 available output rates, including HDTV, the DVS 204 is an affordable scaling solution for a number of AV environments such as boardrooms, conference rooms, and home theaters, as well as rental and staging applications.
The DVS 204 consists of two models: DVS 204 and DVS 204 D. Each model supports the following video formats on one of four inputs: an RGB input as a pass-through to simplify system design, component video, S-video, and composite video. The 'D' (digital) version also supports a Serial Digital Interface (SDI) input. For all models, RGB or component video is output simultaneously on one female 15-pin HD connector and six female BNCs.
To achieve superior scaling performance, the DVS 204 employs several of Extron's latest proprietary technologies including Dynamic Motion Interpolation (DMI™), an advanced motion detection and compensation method; 3:2 and 2:2 pulldown detection, an advanced film mode processing technique that helps maximize image detail and sharpness for NTSC or PAL sources that originated from film; True Rate™, which recovers the natural motion dynamics of material that originated from film; and Accu-RATE Frame Lock™ (AFL), which solves frame rate conversion issues experienced by video scalers.
Other key features of the DVS 204 include aspect ratio control to accommodate different movie formats, memory recall for up to three presets per input, and vertical blanking adjustments. The DVS 204 also incorporates new features such as quad standard decoding and the availability to scale to RGBcvS from the SCART connector on the RGB input.
The DVS 204 is housed in a rack mountable, 1U high, half rack wide metal enclosure. Control of these scalers is provided via the front panel and with RS-232 control. The DVS 204 scalers can also be controlled remotely through an optional IR 901 remote. The front panel buttons control video input selection and picture adjustments. All functions are available through RS-232 using Extron's user-friendly Simple Instruction Set (SIS™).
